Yasmine Brahimi, a 19 years old pharmacy student, was crowned Miss Algiers 2001 on May 17th, 2001. There was no Miss Algeria contest that year in respect to the thousands who lost ther lives in capital city due the floods. Yasmine competed in Miss Algeria the year after, and ended-up as 4th Runner-Up.
