Miss Globe 2009 becomes Instant Celebrity and a Symbol of Algerian Pride

Algiers, Dec 5th: Miss Algeria's victory of the Miss Globe 2009 crown hardly went unnoticed around the world, but even more so in Algeria as the Queen, upon her homecoming, was flooded and overwhelmed by officials, inquisitive journalists and paparazzi, family, fans and friends. For such was the first time in history a fellow Algerian brings home an international beauty crown.

Samah Gahfaz, the new Miss Globe, returned home from Tirana with the company of the President of Miss Globe, Mr. Petri Bozo and the National Director of Algeria, Mr. Amine Sbia.

Escorted to a grandiose press conference held in Algiers' El Aurassi Hotel, an elegant Samah reveals her emotions:

"I'm so happy for this victory which I dedicate to Algeria. I'm also happy to have met and competed with beauties the world over in a strong and wonderful competition. I'm even more so happy that my crowning coincided with the 55th Anniversary of the National Revolution Day and Algeria's historic qualification to the 2010 FIFA World Cup. I hope to rightfully fulfill my duties as Miss Globe 2009."

Samah Gahfaz, an architect by profession, went on to reveal that she spent her younger years studying and working in order to dutifully support her family. Having achieved that she went on to pursue her inner most passion that is modeling, without ever having in mind to be called one day to represent Algeria at an international beauty pageant, let alone win it. She now hopes to use her title to promote Algerian tourism, and for charity fund raising in the African continent by working closely with UNICEF.

On his part, the Algerian National Director Mr. Amine Sbia, revealed that with wishful support from the Algerian authorities, his local organization is much ambitious about hosting the Miss Globe 2010 pageant in Algiers. For many young Algerians, Samah is the new face of Algeria to the world, and a source of national pride, hope and international recognition long overdue.
